El griego Alexandros Avranas, que se sumó a la Nueva Ola del cine heleno con la corrosiva Miss Violence, multipremiada en el Festival de Venecia. Tras dirigir en USA un thriller con Jim Carrey, presenta ahora su cuarto largometraje que nos reafirma que nada ni nadie es lo que parece.

Hay dos cosas que a Alexandros Avranas se le dan: cuestionar y el plano secuencia. Ambos elementos a perfilan un estilo que busca todo menos complacer a las masas. Obsesionado siempre por tener un pie en la realidad y otro en la ficción, el buen Avranas nos trae No me Ames (Love me Not), que está basada en un hecho real, que ocurrió en Grecia en 2011.

Una pareja intentó salir de sus problemas financieros asesinando a una persona para poder cobrar el seguro de vida y así saldar sus deudas. Al final terminaron peleándose por decidir quién había sido la mente maestra detrás de todo, el líder iba a pasar más años en la cárcel. A partir de este suceso ocurrido en la vida real, Avranas decidió hacer un retrato (muy obscuro) sobre la crisis económica y moral que está latente en Europa.

Avranas es claro en su planteamiento. Quiso meter este tema en la película porque No me Ames es sobre la avaricia, sus consecuencias. Los protagonistas (Eleni Roussinou y Christos Loulis) son una pareja que desea más, cree merecer algo más de lo que tiene. Entonces deciden tomarlo. Simbólicamente se habla de la avaricia, aunque es parte de la crisis moral.

Dándonos paso al característico sadismo de Avranas. El no tiene miedo de enfatizar como nuestra naturaleza se ha vuelto más violenta, al ver cómo los egos de las personas son cada vez más importantes. Sentimientos como la compasión, la solidaridad y la empatía hacia los demás parecen pertenecer al pasado, por ese motivo No me Ames puede resultar oscura y cruel para muchos, más allá de su violencia gráfica, es algo que pasó, pasa y seguirá pasando. Lo único cruel es la realidad.


Escondido bajo capas y capas de violencia, egoísmo y traición, Alexandros Avranas presenta una película -que arranca como drama social, evoluciona a un thriller y termina como una cinta de terror psicológico- que te mantendrá al fila del asiento y seguramente no dejará indiferente a nadie. Ademas la presencia hipnótica de Eleni Roussinou aumenta la estética de esta película sobria y excesiva al mismo tiempo.
