‘MIDSOMMAR’ | ¿VALE LA PENA?

Ari Aster apareció de la nada hace poco más de un año con su debut como director, la aclamada Hereditary. Este año vuelve con un producto tan personal como el anterior, pero esta vez a plena luz del día. Mientras que, en Hereditary se ayudaba de las sombras y de ocultar información, aquí parece que nada esté oculto, al menos parece que lo macabro no esté esperando a que se haga de noche para atacar sino que está presente constantemente. En Midsommar el terror viene de pura atmósfera y de las situaciones que se crean, incluso mucho más que en su anterior película.

Hacer películas de terror en el siglo XXI no es sencillo. Todo está contado y caer en clichés y remakes mediocres es lo común, pero el público es cínico y se da cuenta lo fácil que es subir el volumen y entregar un susto efímero y olvidable (Si, te estoy hablando a ti James Wan). Las películas que caen en esto son muchísimas y por eso el género tiene tanta mala fama, pero por suerte en los últimos años tuvimos las excelentes The Witch y The Babadook apostando al terror atmosférico.

Dirección soberbia, un uso de las cámaras y los encuadres muy inteligente, los planos y la manera que enfoca los bellos paisajes rurales de Suecia, la manera en que encuadra las escenas en pantalla, una puesta en escena asfixiante, un ritmo pausado que crea una atmósfera insoportable a la par que extraña, magnífica fotografía, uso increíble de la luz, diseño de sonido excelente, la atmósfera malsana y la ambientación están perfectamente representadas y definidas en la historia de manera perturbadora, sientes de manera muy visceral el retrato de las creencias de otras culturas, se puede palpar en el ambiente la incomodidad, la rareza y lo maquiavélico. El director muestra una elegancia visual y un ritmo que son sobresalientes, dignos de una gran película de terror.

Las interpretaciones son espectaculares,hasta el punto que te metes dentro de ellos y de lo que están viviendo, a destacar la de Florence Pugh. La música es un gran acierto y en compañía de las imágenes que te muestra la película te hace estar atento a lo que pasara en esa comuna sueca.

¿VALE LA PENA?

Más que una película de miedo, es un drama terrorífico. Se agradece que no haya un solo susto fácil, sino que el terror se construye a través de la atmósfera y el profundo y jodido drama de los personajes, generando tensión en cada escena alargando la incomodidad y nunca resolviendo con un estruendoso susto que te saca a patadas de la película. La intención no es asustar ni dar miedo, sino contar una historia que es terrorífica (y hermosa) por sí sola. Midsommar resultar perturbadora en todos los sentidos: tanto por la estética, como por la ética.

    But, what about this? suppose you added a little information? I mean, I don’t wish to
    tell you how to run your website, but what if you added a post title to maybe grab folk’s attention? I mean 'MIDSOMMAR'
    | ¿VALE LA PENA? – BASTARDO CRÓNICO is kinda vanilla.
    You could look at Yahoo’s home page and watch how they create post titles to get people to click.
    You might try adding a video or a pic or two to grab people excited
    about what you’ve written. In my opinion, it could bring your posts a little
    livelier.
